Amanda K. Smith and Edwin B. Barnes founded Smith Barnes to build something exceptional: a firm that combines their decades of experience with a commitment to personalized partner-level attention on every matter. We seek to support clients through shared success and excellent outcomes. While they both share a background in admiralty and maritime law, their practices have grown to serve the myriad evolving needs of businesses domestically and globally.
Amanda K. Smith brings extensive experience in admiralty and maritime, business and commercial, corporate, employment, and insurance matters. Barred in Texas, she has served clients' needs across the United States and globally. She earned her B.S. (Cum Laude) from Texas State University-San Marcos and her J.D. (Cum Laude) from South Texas College of Law.
Edwin B. Barnes provides expertise in admiralty and maritime, business and commercial, corporate, employment, insurance, intellectual property, securities, and fiduciary duty/shareholder matters. Barred in California, he has assisted clients' needs across the United States and globally. He earned his B.A. from Kenyon College, his M.A. in Anthropology from UC San Diego, and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
